Rental Pricing 101

How much to rent a private jet?

The direct answer: $3,200–$12,500 per flight hour depending on aircraft size, so most one-way US rentals land between $5,000 and $30,000. Everything below — the hourly bands, six real trip prices, and the fees that sit on top — comes straight from our live fleet data.

Reading a Quote

What the rental price includes.

Included in every quote we send

  • Aircraft, crew and fuel at current rates — no fuel-s surcharge surprises later.
  • Standard catering — snacks, beverages and light bites appropriate to flight time.
  • Repositioning — flying the jet to your departure airport, quoted transparently as its own line.

Added on top, trip by trip

  • Landing, ramp and FBO fees — $150–$1,500 per airport depending on field and aircraft weight.
  • Crew overnights — $800–$1,500 per crew per night away from base on multi-day trips.
  • Federal excise tax — 7.5% on domestic legs, plus segment fees; international legs add head taxes instead.
  • Winter de-icing — $1,500–$6,000 per application, quoted after the fact by most operators.

One-way vs round-trip rental

A same-day round trip is not double a one-way — it typically prices at 1.6–1.85×, because the operator keeps the crew and aircraft committed but flies only one leg each way. Overnight stays flip the equation back toward two full one-ways plus crew expenses. The deepest discounts in the market are empty-leg repositioning flights at 30–75% off, if your dates can flex around them.

FAQ

Rental questions, answered.

How much does it cost to rent a private jet for a day?

Most operators bill a two-hour daily minimum per flight day, so a full day with a light jet starts around $6,400–$7,000 even with little flying. A realistic day trip with 3–4 flight hours in a midsize jet lands between $12,000 and $20,000 all-in.

How much to rent a private jet for a week?

Weekly rentals price as accumulated flight hours plus crew expenses and minimums, not as a flat weekly rate. A week with 10 flight hours in a light jet typically totals $35,000–$50,000; the same week in a super-midsize runs $60,000–$85,000.

Is the hourly rate the whole price?

Almost. Quotes add landing and FBO fees, crew overnight expenses on multi-day trips, premium catering, de-icing in winter and 7.5% federal excise tax on domestic legs. Ask whether a quote is all-in before comparing numbers.

What is the cheapest private jet to rent?

The Citation CJ3+ at $3,200 per flight hour is the value pick in our fleet for regional trips of up to three hours. Turboprops rent for less ($1,500–$2,300/hr market-wide) and make sense on hops under 500 miles.

How can I pay less to rent a private jet?

Fly the smallest aircraft that fits your party, use reliever airports instead of major hubs, keep dates flexible to catch empty legs at 30–75% off, and book round trips same-day — they price at 1.6–1.85× one-way rather than double.
